Broadband satisfaction continues to slide
« on: July 05, 2007, 14:15 »
More than a quarter of all broadband customers are unhappy with their service, according to a new survey.

The so-called "free broadband" providers come in for particular criticism in the Uswitch poll, with the comparison company estimating that Orange has 400,000 unhappy customers alone. Fellow free-broadband provider TalkTalk joins Orange at the foot of the satisfaction league.

The YouGov poll of 11,000 broadband customers found that overall satisfaction is down by 10% since March 2006 - the last survey before the launch of the free broadband services.

PlusNet, the ISP which was recently bought out by BT, came out top of the satisfaction ranking. It wasn't all good for BT, however: its own broadband service was voted worst value for money, alongside Orange.

Given the general negativity surrounding the free providers, Sky came out surprisingly well. It was voted best value for money and scored 76% for customer satisfaction, along with arch rival Virgin Media.
