I don't mind Johnny Depp, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Sleepy Hollow and Secret Window, were all quite good.

I adore the old Fred Astaire musicals! The plots may have been flimsier than 'Crossroads' scenery but that doesn't matter at all. Astaaire's films were never about the plot. 'Grease' notwithstanding, I'm not too keen on musicals. I cringed through 'Chicago' and couldn't even bring myself to watch 'Moulin Rouge'.

You're the only other person I know who's seen Secret Window! I thought it was quite good too.

I'd forgotten about those movies, I was thinking more along the lines of South Pacific, Oklahoma, Showboat and such. :ack: Having to sit through Mary Poppins and My fair Lady when I was a kid, and listening to those others, turned me off musicals.
One I did really like, which I had forgotten about, is Cabaret. Loved it.

Yes, my sort of movie and he really showed his versatility in that, but then doing Willy bloody Wonka. I saw about 30 seconds of it, and that was enough for me. ::)
Simon:
Yes, 'versatility' is one thing, but doing something that makes you look like a paedophile probably isn't the best career move as an actor.
