This won't be much help, but that happened to me Hook, although I never found out why.  At least you know you're not alone!   ;)

I had a similar experience when I added a scanner to Mrs Clive's XP.  I made a mistake    when I installed the software and it was all in Italian.  I tried using system restore but it just wouldn't work although it worked fine from that date on!  Have you added any new hardware?

Perhaps you could tell us why you want to do a System Restore, Hook?  It could be that someone might come up with another way to solve your problem.   :)

Simon and Clive ty for replying, Tony  :P  :-X

I think I have trouble with internet Explorer and Messenger.. the reason is as follows.

1, Had a system mess up on Saturday and all the icons on the links bar have reverted back to the e in the page rather than a logo.

2, Webcam sends out pictures upside down to my Friends although it shows up correct on my pc.
I have uninstalled webcam and reinstalled webcam... now this was ok before the system mess up, so have put 2 and 2 together and so far come up with 5  ;D.

Many thanks for the help.

Hook

Hook, have you tried repairing, or reinstalling Internet Explorer?

I assume that the restore didn't work in Safe Mode, Hook?

Did you log on as Administrator?

I know they are basic questions, but  ;)

Remember the LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION can restore everything back to your LAST SUCCESSFUL LOGON.

I know that in 98 etc there is the reg restore option, but haven't looked @ that in XP - don't know if it exists (prolly not)
