New BBC Weather site coming soon
« on: February 03, 2009, 22:32 »
Only a day after the extreme weather conditions which brought parts of Britain to a standstill, the BBC is preparing the full launch of its new weather website.

The new BBC Weather site, currently in beta, features detailed maps as well as three-hourly breakdowns to show more clearly how the weather will change over the next 24 hours.

Also included on the new site are embedded forecast videos on each location page, to make it easier to watch the latest forecast.

Robin Goad, director of research at Hitwise, said: "Yesterday was the busiest ever day for weather websites in the UK.

"Websites in our weather category picked up 1.6 per cent of all UK Internet visits, equivalent to one in every 63," he added.

The BBC's new weather website has been in beta testing since September 2008, with a full launch expected early in February.

Yes, I have been using Metcheck for quite some time.  Tonight is the acid test for it because the BBC TV weather forecast claims we are to have heavy snow tonight whilst Metcheck says we won't have any at all.  I'll keep you posted!   ;D

Met Office looked the best when i checked them all out and i can't say the BBC one looks anywhere near as good  :dunno:

We had a very light dusting of snow which would probably bring London to a standstill but didn't raise an eyebrow up here  :)x

We got 12cm overnight, nothing has moved here all day - no schools, buses, delivery drivers or pedestrians. In fact, I'm not sure that the place hasn't been evacuated and no-one told me. :)
