Canon Printer Problem
« on: July 05, 2009, 18:16 »
A friend has a Canon all in one printer / scanner / copier (sorry, don't know the model), and when they try to print a document, although it makes all the right noises, and the display claims to be printing, the paper just whizzes through with nothing being printed.  I've had a quick look, and can't see anything that shouldn't be there, like pens, paper clips, etc.  Any ideas, anyone?

Out of ink?  Perhaps a faulty cartridge has been inserted.  It's happened to me on several occasions.

It doesn't even seem to attempt to print, Clive.  :dunno:

Had a similar thing with an epson all in one last week. The drivers were installed for the scanner but not for the printer.
Go to the add printer or properties of the printer and reinstall the printer drivers Simon.
That cured the epson, although that didnt even want to send any paper through the machine before installing the drivers.

I've removed and reinstalled the drivers and the printer software, and it still won't print anything from the PC, but, curiously, it will print a test pattern by using the options directly on the printer itself.  It seems that it's not receiving the data from the PC, although the USB is connected, and it recognised and installed the hardware.

I know this might sound obvious, Simon, but is it set as the default printer?

Have you checked device manager, Simon, to see if it's flagging an error.

Yes, Rik, and no it isn't.

Dave, that's something I didn't think of.  Will check that next time I'm over there.
