Tom Tom b*****ds.
« on: December 22, 2009, 12:48 »
Tom Tom has been harassing me for several weeks to try and get me to update my now quite ancient GO300.  After forking out £30 it appears that my card is too small and Tom Tom's attitude is "tough luck - you agreed to our terms and conditions and you cannot get a refund".  They told me to buy a larger card from a computer store and transfer my original one over to it.  I feel I have been conned good and proper by this bunch of crooks!  :bawl:

Odd, Clive, I had an email from a friend in praise of TomTom's service this morning, repairing his unit FOC nine months out of warranty. Experience of a company seems increasingly to depend on who you talk to, doesn't it. :(

This is the problem with downloads.  Having a proper updated card through the post is far better even if it costs more.

I've never had a problem with downloads, Clive.

Are you talking about a standard SD card, Clive?  You can get them fairly cheaply from places like http://www.7dayshop.com:)

The problem is the Go300 only came with a 512gb SD card which was almost full when supplied all those years ago.

It's a pain if you haven't got a spare card laying around but as Simon says they are dirt cheap now.

Or you could go down the route that the £30 for the update will more than half pay for a new smaller slicker satnav which you will be able to install tomtom on and updates are easy found on the net free.  :o:

Well since Tom Tom has stolen my money I would probably be better off buying a new 2Gb SD card and transferring my data to that.  Thanks for the link Simon and thanks also for your useful suggestion Cammy.   ;)

That would be the cheapest option now, Clive.
