How do they actually send the meat Rik?  Do they use a courier?   :dunno:

Mine usually comes with TNT.  It's 'shock frozen', and is packaged in polystyrene containers, with dry ice packets inside, to keep the produce frozen in transit.  You need to use gloves when unpacking the meat, so as to avoid ice burns, and you are not supposed to make skin contact with the dry ice tablets.  Best about it for me is, they do Saturday deliveries, for no extra charge.

Don't worry, I've handled more dry ice than you can shake a stick at.   ;D  You should try  throwing a few pellets into someone's cup of tea and watching their reaction.  Another fun thing to do with dry ice is to insert a handful into a rubber glove and tightly tie the top so the gas can't escape.  The glove will very slowly blow up to an absolutely gigantic size but with teensy weensie fingers.  At a moment that is impossible to predict with any accuracy, the glove will explode with an enormous bang, causing much mirth and anxiety.  Use this knowledge wisely.   ;D

It's very handy if you can order for delivery on a set day.  My biggest worry is the meat turning up when we are out and then spending days trying to retrieve it from a delivery company.

The delivery companies are told not to return the delivery to the depot, Clive, so they will always leave it if you're not in.  You can also specify, when you order, a 'safe place' for the delivery to be left, if you are likely to be out.

I have placed an order tonight, for delivery at the end of the month, so that gives me a chance to make some room in the freezer, but I still get the special offers.

As for the dry ice, yes, I have experimented with chucking hot water over it in the sink, and it's quite fun to play with.  Not sure I'd do the rubber glove thing though.  I hate balloons, and they always make me jump out of my skin when they pop.  Strangely, though, I can sit through the most harrowing, jumpy horror film, without a flinch!  Must be my sadistic nature.

Which would attract every dog in the neighbourhood!   ;D

Don't worry.  The glove never goes pop.  It's more like Hiroshima.  ;D

It doesn't.  The containers are sealed.  :)  Running out of excuses yet?

Not sure, San, as I've never bought them at full price!  I think it does tell you the full price on the website.  Any free gifts are more than welcome!  ;D

They're new, larger portions, Sandra, so they don't have a 'real' higher price yet, but the sirloins claim to be a £14 saving.

Are the fillets larger too, Rik?  I thought they were still 170g.
