Dell XPS 1330 & A2DP Bluetooth problems
« on: January 19, 2010, 12:06 »
Hi Guys,

I am having problems with my laptop and my bluetooth headset dongle. I have the Samsung SBH-650 bluetooth receiver which I want to connect to my hifi via line in to broadcast the music over the big speakers from my laptop. I seem to be able to pair the unit with the laptop fine and it appears in the bluetooth devices. It doesnt request a pin code at any time which I thought was a bit strange but it says it is working fine.

Once paired I go to the volume settings and change the default audio output to the bluetooth unit and when I play a song you can see the level rising with the music. The problem is that you cannot hear any music coming out of the samsung unit.

It says that the drivers are all ok and up to date.....any ideas?

My first thought would be that the dongle doesn't support that service.

It connects perfectly to my iphone 3g and I can listen to crystal clear audio.

How are you connecting to the hifi?  Have you any way to check that it's receiving an input?

Well the headset has a normal earphone jack. Basically it is meant to be the receiver for your earphones to receive the music from the iphone. this works which leads me to believe it is something to do with the drivers in windows 7.

It's actually transmitting audio rather than data, is it?  Just a thought...

What I mean is, data, such as a bluetooth signal, won't be recognised by your hi-fi amplifier, whereas a normal audio signal would be.

Can you confirm that you've plugged a cable with an appropriate (stereo) mini-jack into the SBH-650 and plugged the other end into your line in socket?

Sorry Rodders, I get you now. Forget the hifi end, as this has nothing to do with it. Even with head phones attached to the SBH-650 it is still not receiving sound from my laptop.

Ok, have you tried disabling the unit in your iPhone?  Maybe the connection's already claimed by that device.

Right, nothing to do with the fact it was paired with something else....it was a windows 7 driver problem. All sorted now.

Uninstalled all drivers and let Windows download and install them again. Once this was done I went to c:/dell/driver and then went into the driver for the bluetooth. I chose x32 and then clicked inst.exe and went through the set up.

Once this was done I paired up again and hey presto it was done!

thanks, hope this helps someone else
