UK games firms welcome tax breaks
« on: March 24, 2010, 23:26 »
The chancellor's decision to offer tax breaks to the UK gaming industry has been welcomed as "fantastic news" by those who work in it.

Tiga, the trade association that represents UK games developers said tax relief would create 3,500 more jobs over the next five years.

It would allow the UK to "compete on a global stage," said Tiga chief executive Richard Wilson.

My first thought on this is :wtf: but I'm sure there's a good reason for it.   :-\

To be honest the games industry needs some new talent injected into it, so many companies are milling out old content dumbed down a bit. I hope this helps.

yes its all the same idea over and over again. PC gaming really hasn't seen the revolutions I'd have hoped for.... then again they went away from the turn based strategy space conquer games that I so loved.

The last game I played was the fourth Harry Potter, which wasn't a patch on the previous three.  My trouble is, I get too hooked, and haven't really the time for them these days.
