'C' drive running out of space
« on: February 06, 2011, 12:51 »
A friend has an XP machine, and keeps getting warning messages that C drive is running out of space.  This is a partition on a larger drive, but only 20Gb has been allocated for Windows and programs, so I suspect it's getting clogged up with temp files, and the recycle bin.  Is there any way to allocate more space to a C drive, without formatting the whole drive?

Seem to be.  Trouble is, it takes me twice as long as it should, because I only vaguely know what I'm doing - but I still get asked!

:sigh:

You can do it relatively quickly and easily using gparted running from a linux live cd.
