iTunes
« on: April 26, 2011, 23:50 »
Can I sync my iPhone with another iTunes on another computer?  I want to transfer some photos and music files (not from iTunes) from my iPhone to a friend's PC.  Can it be done, or is my iPhone now 'paired' to my iTunes only?

No, you should be easily able todo that. I've done it with my ipod/ nano... never tried it with an iphone but it should work. You possibly have to use the export option, or drag and drop the files. Worth giving it a shot..

I've been advised that there's a danger of my iPhone getting wiped, and synching with all the stuff on the friend's PC, so, having been bitten by an erroneous sync once before, and losing all 240 contacts, I think I'll play safe and sync the stuff on my own PC, and transfer it another way.  By the way, the music files are my own, not from iTunes, so no DRM to worry about.

then the music you can just copy over.

Also I'm not sure, thinking about it, why you need to sync. Just plug it in and connect it to itunes but without any form of sync, it should treat the music like it would from an ipod so you can play it. Just need to ensure no syncing options are setting on itunes I think....  worth always backing up first as itunes on windows is s**te compared to on a mac.

The risk isn't worth the reward, Sam.  It probably would be OK, but I'm not risking ***king up my iPhone for the sake of a few pics.  :)
