The meteorology behind an unusual autumn
« on: December 04, 2011, 19:21 »
As autumn 2011 draws to a close, the record books are set to show that it was much drier and milder than normal. BBC Weather's John Hammond takes an in-depth look at the meteorology behind this unusual season.

We've had drought warnings around here!  Wait till we're under 8 inches of snow!   ::)

That doesn't count, it's only .8" of rain. :)

Last night I had a ‘phone call from Nita, who’s been floating around the Caribbean with her sister for a couple of weeks.  Apparently the weather is better there.  It will be interesting to see how smug she is once she lands back in the UK at a ridiculously early hour on Friday morning wearing a cotton frock.   :snow:

Are you going to meet her, Rod? If so, you could be conveniently delayed and let the cold bite a bit.

At that time of day?  In Cardiff?  Are you insane?  No, I'm afraid I shall be trapped between an electric blanket and heavy duvet and quite unable to open my eyes for several hours.  Shame, really.

I hope she's bringing back plenty of Caribbean rum to keep her warm.  I rather stupidly bought a bottle of strawberry liqueur which tasted lovely in the shop but had to be poured down the sink when I returned home.

I've asked her to bring me back a case of this stuff.  However, she's got the memory of a Goldfish so I'll probably just get an annoying shirt instead.

Gosh that's strong stuff Rod!  I used to be quite partial to a bottle of Rhum Negrita which was particularly smooth compared to the more popular Captain Morgan.

I've only ever had Rum once, and it made me violently ill.  Mind you, it took a lot of it to do so...   :o:
