Sorry Simon, I didn't dream about anything other than naked women :o last night :baad: so I'm no nearer to a solution.

Maybe a repair rather than a reinstall will do the trick :-\

@Simon
If you open the actual favourites folder that your browser has saved your favourites to you press "Ctrl" and "A" to select all the files in there then just copy and past into IE favourites folder

@Simon

If you go to your IE favourite?s folder which should be C:\Documents and Settings\Simon\Favourites you should see a list of you favourites OK! If you right click on any of the favourites and select copy it will copy the file to the clipboard, now if you select the favourites folder that Mozilla saves it favourites (Which wont be the same folder) open the folder and right click any where in the folder and select paste, the favourite will be copied to the new folder, to copy the favourites from Mozilla back to IE just reverse the process.

That's basically what I've been doing, Brian.  I opened the Mozilla Bookmarks folder in IE, and right clicked each one to 'Add To Favorites'.  That worked OK, but you obviously wouldn't want to have to do hundreds like that!  Fortunately, the original IE Favorites folder is still intact, so I only have to copy across any new ones I save in Moz.

Thanks for all the ideas with this one!   ;D ;D

Could you not got to EDIT and SELECT ALL in the toolbar Simon and then copy all from inside the folder  ???

OK
"I opened the Mozilla Bookmarks folder in IE, and right clicked each one"

If you can do it with one than you can do it with them all, if you select one item in the folder then press "Ctrl" and "a" that then selects all the items in that folder you then copy the selected items and paste into the new folder.

Another way is just to copy the full folder into your bookmarks folder/favourites folder which will show as a favourite when you open My Favourites

I would advise you to also backup your documents and favourites folders by using the Backup tool in Windows System Tools; it also saves your desktop and cookies

One more thing is also save your address book, nothing more annoying than loosing all your names and addresses.

Yes that will work as well .

OK, the 'Add To Favorites' method I was using, will only accept one at a time.  I have different folders for all my Favorites groups, and each time I add a new favorite, it asks which folder to put it in.  I could probably have copied them all into the IE Favorites folder -- but I didn't think of doing it that way.   ::)  Shuddup at the back!   ;D

I'm going to start making back ups of everything as I go along, and will try not to add any more programs and stuff before I re-format and re-install.

By the way, Brian, would an XP installation over the top of the existing installation not do the trick?  I might not have to reload everything back on then.    ;)

@Simon
Hi m8, yes you could do that BUTthis will only replace original XP files and will not delete any other files that may have been added during use so you could still have corrupt files on your PC.
