First, I want to ask Arturb to execuse me by asking things not exactly his subject. As some comments were little away toward the programs number I wanted to seize the occasion and ask som informations.

   Lobo,   Thanks a lot for that link. It's certainly useful. I'll keep it for some uses in the future when the need is there. But it'll be nice to get the "installation code" of certain products, not the license number and not the version number. was wonderful. It gave me the "Installation Code of Windows XP and Office XP".

   To make the matter clearer, I have my restoration CD which contains many programs originally. It installs them every time I make the restoration. Some of these programs I need them to be installed on my other bootable Windows XP on the same computer. It asks me to write the code number (or caracters) which I don't have. (Or if I want to install them on an other computer that belongs to me, I can't.)

    Do you think that there is a way for that?

If the CD is a recovery CD then it?s not possible to load individual programs from that CD, it contains an image of the programs rather than the actual installation files need to install the programs in Windows

PS the code that the installation program is asking for may be the CD code not thr Windows code

If you can find out which soud card is installed and the modem post the name/number here and we will find the drivers for you

OK. I'm just about to lose it and throw this damned pc out the window.
I called TINY who told me to download drivers for my hardware from their support site www.tiny.com/support. I did this and was unable to find drivers suitable for XP.

I've still no sound from my Creative Sound Blaster 128.
My keyboard isn't functioning properly. ie when I press Shift ' I get inverted commas. My keyboard is a Chicony KB-9805.

I did download the Windows 98 drivers in the hope that this would suffice. No joy. However, I'm not entitely sure where I should be downloading these drivers to. HELP.

On the bright side   my printer and my modem are working tickety boo

Its operator error not operating system error my friend,
you have got you keyboard settings set to the USA settings, change them by opening control panel, region and language settings and change to the UK settings

Thanks LObo but I'm still not sure about where I download these drivers to, or will I be advised by the website where to file them?

When you get the drivers unzip them and then either just double click on the exe or go to update drivers Arthur and tell it to get them from where you unzipped them to

you were right about the keyboard settings. However, I changed them to UK but the keyboard still has the same fault :'(

I did get the driver from the site you recommended, however I've still no sound.

I followed your instructions without success. I probably need a step by step idiots guide for this. Forget probably I mean definately  :-[

Using Device Manager, my pc states that there is null sound card or scanner installed. :'( >

You guys could probably fix this in seconds if you were sat at my pc.

Been there NEARLY done that  

You'll crack it mate, and be more knowlageable after the event. These probs may appear to be driving you around the bend, but better to look on them as a learning curve  

I cannot add anything to what has already been said, but with freinds in the know like Sandra, Adept and Brian you'll grt it sorted.

I've said simulare what if somebody who knew what they were doing was sat at my PC.........but YOU would'nt learn nowt, well nowt you would remember, chin up.

Ok Arthur,lets see if we can get to the bottom of your problems.

Firstly the Keyboard
After going to Control Panel and selecting Regional and Language Options,select English (United Kngdom) at the top section and United Kingdom at the bottom under Location.
You must click APPLY then ok for this to take effect,not just OK.
You have to reboot(I think) before it will change it as it will be currently in use,but I think it tells you that after clicking on apply .


Can you tell me/us if you have an onboard sound card or a PCI one,it may be that it isnt enabled in your BIOS but lets find out exactly what you have got first and if you could let me/us know what the motherboard is,then that may be useful too

Just a thought with the sound, Arthur, but the speakers are plugged in to the correct socket, yes?  Sorry if that's too basic, but sometimes the simplest things can be overlooked.

Good point Simon,I was round at someones house last Sunday and amongst other things the sound wasnt working.
As the lead to the speakers had a red plug on it they had plugged it into the red socket not the green one.

Another common mistake with speaker leads is plugging them into the modem,if theres a PCI modem fitted,as there are 2 more sockets on those usually too.

I dont think that this will be it in Arthurs case though as the Device Manager is telling him that his soundcard isnt installed

The keyboard settings are definately set for UK English.

The soundcard isn't a PCI. It must be on board. The only information I can physically see on the board is: K7S5A   D17NE14902252. This replaced my original TINY motherboard last year. I received a disc (MAINBOARD Ver 1.0s) with it which I've tried to load up but the cd isn't compatable with xp. A few days ago when I originally booted up with 98 the sound was ok.

I've double checked the connections and they are all correct.

Just a thought It is a UK keyboard isn't it - with a £ sign on the 3 key? (God I sound like Simon now )

Right click on MY computer, select Properties, Hardware, Device manager, double click on Keyboards and check what it says, if its correct it should have something like "Standard 101/102 key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard".

If it says that then the keyboard is OK if not remove the device from Device Manager and reboot your PC this will allow XP to reinstall drivers for the keyboard (you can do this anyway it may help)
