'Links' folder in IE6 Favorites
« on: December 14, 2002, 10:55 »
Just a curiosity, this one, but I deleted the 'Links' folder from my IE6 Favorites drop down menu, as I didn't use anything in it, however, after a while it keeps reappearing!  Any ideas on how I can make it disappear for good?  Not that it's doing any harm - it's just irritating, because I'm supposed to be in charge!

Yes, I'd be interested in a solution to this too.

I find it irritating, but not irritating enough to do something about it  ::) ;D ;D

I use the links feature on IE6 a lot. If I want to add a site a just drag it over to the links on the toolbar then I can always find it again. I keep all my special websites in the links and I don't let the family use it. They have to make do with favourites.

Sorry Simon, I never noticed that folder as I never go into favourites. That's for the more menial users of this PC ;D

I looked in favourites, Sandra and it is just a copy of the links in the toolbar

Aren't they the same thing Sandra ???

Anything you put in the Links folder appears on the Links toolbar and vice versa.

It looks like they are Adept.I never use the links folder or the one on the toolbar as I dont like too much clutter on my toolbars.I just try and organise my favourites into folders such as all forums I visit in one and financial dealings in another etc. :-*

Found this article by mistake and thought I would post it  ;D

according to the Microsoft Knowledge Base, you can't "move, delete, or rename the Links folder on the Favorites menu." For more information, check out this link: http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q179/5/99.ASP However, you CAN hide it, as the Knowledge Base notes. Here's how: Select Favorites on the toolbar. Right-click the Links folder and choose Properties from the pop-up menu that appears. Select the Hidden box. Click OK to close the Properties dialog box.

Just a thought  Hook

Nice one Hook! 8)

A bit of lateral thinking works wonders doesn't it? Don't delete it - hide it  ;) I'll remember that.

Well, even after trying to hide the links folder, rather than deleting it, the bloody thing still keeps reappearing!  I think it's purpose in life must be to wind up the user!   >:( ;D

Tell you what to do, Simon. Rename it "Simon", it won't get rid of it but at least you will see your name on IE6 ;)
