Oh I give up, I can put up with ignorance but I draw the line at stupidity

Wait till a put my nose back into place, Tony. I only asked for opinions as I am open to all BB providers that are offering a good deal. I will agree to ignorance as regards BB but I am not Stupid even if I do come from outside Lanark.  ;)
I have been taken in before with providers being top rated for the year like NDO.  Firenet was one of them and it's a case of once bitten, twice shy. NDO could be great today and rotten tomorrow like others to name a few, fast24 for a start. I thank you for your advice and all that time you spent with your response. Maybe one day I will give you advice on how to talk to your betters elders.  ;) ;) ;)

You go with whom you like Lona love, but to say about a company "might" turn crap as against a definet "is" crap...just does not hold water as a valid argument  ;)

Fast24 and the like, well folk go for these firms coz they are the cheapest [prob same reason why Gio caught your eye] Then they moan a bucketful, when they realise cheap is invariably nasty. ::)

Look I would rather you don't go with NDO, if you think that is what my post was based around. Go with Pipex or Plusnet, both are offering good deals, and like NDO are professional outfits, only bigger.

Which is exactly why I ignored all the cheapo providers and went with Nildram :P

ohh its a tricky choice though isn't it. :o

Nildram seems to come top on that Service Provider Comparison chart most of the time.  Do you not think they are any good then Tony?

NDO weren't on alot of months were they, but they seemed to get stronger as the others got worse. Hmmm

Mind you its going to be a long time till I can afford it

Adept,

Nidram are another excellent company, and I know you will read nothing in or out by their exclusion from my post :-[ I just gave Plus and Pipex as examples of alternatives.

You and I both, researched the ISP alternatives in great detail, and I merely passed on said research findings on my part to Lona, purely on a helping a friend basis.

But it would appear more important who Lona does not go with, than whom she does. Remember Lona, if your in the poo poo, with your service, you wont get replies to your emails, and it will cost you 75p a minute to call em.

And can you imagine if you want to migrate from Gio, and they dont supply BT with your BCUK number!!!!! then you will have to start again the activation proccess with another ISP. Look read thread on that very subject on the NDO support forum and see how a professional company interacts with it's customers / potential customers. I know  that Goi on the other hand, stop talking to their customers, once they have them signed up.

Take the advice or not, it is your choice entirely, Lona.

Shell, the reason NDO do not feature on the graph some months, are:

Because the rules for inclusion, state that at least 300 respondents must vote for a ISP per month, for it to be included.  And being a smaller company, and mainly directed at business users , it does not always achieve that figure.

November Broadband speed placings http://www.adslguide.org.uk/ Nidram knocked of top spot ::)

NDO not even listed   :( but I tested my connection and it beat the winner  ;D  http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedchart.asp?id=7157fd43f95836abf27157fd43

Good choice Lona, I think their normal deal is the most competitive price wise, for a kit, connection and monthly subscription package, and if they are doing an improved deal for Xmas, even better.

I would have just one area of concern, their suppot comes in for alot of bad press. I rate support as very important, but that's just me, I deplore weak points when I'm paying for a service. When you cannot get an answer as to why you cannot get full use of their service [any ISP] what price you got your modem and filters for becomes less significant.  ::)

Least ways I steered you away from those indians cowboys in Oldham ;D

Broadband.....you'll love it...only time you'll lose the connection is when your PC crashes.....oH dear back to ME again  ::) ;)   ::)
