It sounds like Android has updated in stages, suggesting that the phone was perhaps older stock.  That said, it doesn't really matter, as you should have the latest Android version after this current update, then any future updates should be smaller patches.  It does sound quite slow going though.  Is the phone connected to your home WiFi?  You should be getting similar download speeds as you do on your other wireless devices.  I think my HTC took around 50 minutes for the Android 7 update.  Maybe that's why mine was £400, and yours wasn't.   ;D

With regards zooming, I've no idea, but try pinching the screen (or the opposite) when in camera mode and see what happens.

Thanks for the explanation Simon - that makes sense.  I have a feeling that Amazon often sell old stock but at a good price.  We were caught out some time ago when we purchased a Charles vacuum cleaner for the communal cleaners.  It was a real bargain from Amazon.  I know it had a bit of a hammering but the motor burnt out after 18 months or so.  I took it to a nearby repair shop who phoned the manufacturers with the serial number of the motor and it turned out the machine was very old stock when I bought it.  Thanks for the zoom tip - it worked very well.   :thumb:

I think you might have a faster download speed Simon.  Mine is around 15 - 16 Mp/s on ADSL2+.

That's better than my speed, Clive.  I'm currently getting 10163Kbps.  It's perhaps possible that my phone has a faster CPU - I would hope it had something better for the price!  That, or the Motorola software is bigger to download than the HTC version.

It says the phone is a quad-core 1.5 & quad-core 1.2 GHz which is meaningless to me.  The table of benchmarks shows it to be the tortoise rather than the hare.

Mine has a Quad-core 2x2.15 GHz Kryo & 2x1.6 GHz Kryo ( :dunno: ) with 4Gb RAM.

Little wonder yours is twice as fast as mine.  My old grandpappy always said "you get what you pay for".  :)x

Yeah, but yours is perfectly good enough as an entry level smartphone.  Once you've got all the updates, day to day operations should be fine.

So ..... the little charging port at the bottom of my phone - is it a mini USB that I could connect to my laptop to transfer my iTunes library?

6.30 is obviously update time.   ::)  Another 20 minute system update followed by updates of individual apps.

Yes, you can connect it to your laptop, but it won't sync with iTunes.  You will need to set the USB to File Transfers (it should ask when you connect it), then you can just transfer music files and folders direct from your PC to the SD card on the phone.  So, you can transfer your iTunes library, but you'll need to copy the iTunes Music folder direct.  If you have set iTunes to organise files and folders, all your albums should appear correctly on the phone.

I notice the phone has an app available to sync itunes.  Should I download it?

I guess you could try it, but it's almost more straightforward just to transfer the folder direct.

You may need to create a Music folder on your SD card.
